David Rigg

Founder & Executive Chair

David Rigg is the founder and executive chair of Project Associates. David is one of the UK’s most respected communications advisors and gives the highest level of reputation and crisis advice to some of the world's leading private individuals, largest companies and overseas governments.

As a successful international business advisor, David recognised the need for a strategic communications consultancy offering real expertise, professionalism and experience. In 1997 Project Associates was formed, bringing together an impressive team of associates with extensive media, communications, business and political experience.

David has been named one of PR Week’s ‘Top 100 Most Influential People in PR During the Past 21 Years’. Before founding Project Associates, he was communications director of Camelot, the UK's national lottery operator and was a founder member of the consortium that went on to win the first national lottery licence in 1994. During this time he gave 7,500 broadcast interviews and numerous print interviews.

Before Camelot, David was the senior business development director at a FTSE 100 company and has worked in over 100 countries around the world in various sales, marketing and senior management roles.

Rob Worthington

CEO

Rob Worthington is CEO of Project Associates. He is also responsible for the pan-European activities of the Group, splitting his time between Brussels and New York, whilst overseeing Project Associates’ US footprint. He has specialist interest and expertise in advising on governmental affairs and international political trends, with particular focus on the European Union and the Middle East.

Rob previously worked in the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and at an earlier stage in his career was an advisor to a former European Commissioner, plus a parliamentary advisor to a senior member of Tony Blair’s government.

Rob holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a first-class honours degree in Economics and Social Sciences (political science) from Trinity College, Dublin. He is bilingual in French and English.

Charlie Rigg

COO

Charlie Rigg is COO and company secretary at Project Associates and oversees the finance, HR and admin teams. Charlie is a highly organised and practised operator who ensures that all operational aspects of the business are run efficiently. Charlie’s flexible attitude and professionalism ensure comprehensive day to day support to the office and team.

The Rt. Hon. the Baroness Ashton of Upholland GCMG, PC

Baroness Ashton served as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and First Vice President of the European Commission from 2009 to 2014. She played a pivotal role both in bringing Serbia and Kosovo to an agreement in April 2013 that normalised their ties, and in the P5+1 talks with Iran which led to the interim and final agreements on the Iranian nuclear program.

Baroness Ashton was appointed as the British European Commissioner in 2008 and became the Commissioner for Trade in the European Commission. Prior to this she was Leader of the House of Lords and Lord President of the Council in Gordon Brown’s first Cabinet in June 2007.

Howell James CBE

Non-Executive Director

Howell is non-executive director at Project Associates. Howell is Chair of Radiocentre, the body that represents UK Commercial Radio as well as Chair of the trustees of the Arts Foundation, Chair of the trustees of The Hanover Band, and is a trustee of Cecily Saunders International the research and education centre specialising in palliative care.

He has had a long career as a senior executive and advisor in both government and multi-national businesses. In business Howell has held roles at Christie’s, the global arts business, as Global Head of Corporate Communications; at Barclays as Vice Chairman, Corporate Affairs. He was Director of Corporate and Government Affairs at Cable & Wireless, and Director of Corporate Affairs and a member of the Board of Management at the BBC. Howell was CEO of Quiller Consultants, and a Founding Partner and Director of Brown Lloyd James corporate public relations.

In government, Howell was Political Secretary to Prime Minister John Major, the Permanent Secretary, Government Communication, in the Cabinet Office under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, and Special Adviser in the Department of Employment and Department of Trade and Industry in Mrs Thatcher's government.

Howell was a Board member of the Chichester Festival Theatre from 2005-2014, and a Trustee of the British Council from 2010-2016. Howell was awarded the CBE in August 1997.

Adam Wethered

Non-Executive Director

Adam Wethered is a non-executive director at Project Associates. He has experience of running very large international banking businesses and, as an entrepreneur, created, expanded and sold an award-winning investment management business.  He has extensive consulting experience and specialises in advising wealthy families and endowments. He is also a qualified barrister.

After graduating from Christ’s College, Cambridge and qualifying as a barrister, Adam worked for JP Morgan for 24 years. During the 1990s, he was head of JP Morgan’s London Offices, Chief Executive of JP Morgan Securities Ltd, Co-head of Corporate Finance and Chief Operating Officer in Europe. In 2000 Adam co-founded Lord North Street – Private Investment Office, which he managed until its sale in 2014. He then created Owl Private Office, a consulting business advising wealthy families and trustees in optimising their investment arrangements and getting the best results from the investment industry.

Adam enjoys providing strategic advice and analysis to assist clients in both a business and personal context. He has more than 45 years of international commercial and investment experience and delivers practical insight and recommendations in a thoughtful and diplomatic manner.

Adam invests in and advises a number of entrepreneurial businesses. He chairs the Garrick Club investment committee and the Avebury World Heritage Site Charitable Trust. He is also on the Development Board of the British Academy.

General Sir Mike Jackson, GCB, CBE, DSO, DL

General Sir Mike Jackson GCB CBE DSO DL served as UK Chief of the General Staff (CGS) from 2003-2006, the culmination of four and a half decades in the British Army. After a degree in Russian studies he joined the Intelligence Corps in 1963, transferring to the Parachute Regiment in 1970. He served as the commander in chief of Land Command from 2000, the commander of Kosovo Force in 1999, the commander of the NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps from 1997, and director general of Development and Doctrine at the MOD. His active service has included command at company and brigade level in Northern Ireland, and divisional command in Bosnia.

H.E. Senator Nasser S. Judeh

Nasser Judeh served as Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs between 2009 and 2017. When he left office he was the longest serving Foreign Minister in Jordan's history. From 2015 he was also Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan. Nasser Judeh was Jordan's Minister of information (1998-1999) and Minister of State for media and communication (2007-2009), as well as cabinet level spokesman for the government of Jordan (2005-2009). He was the Director General of the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (Jordan's national broadcaster, 1994-1998) and established and headed the Jordan Information Bureau in London between 1992 and 1994. Between 1986 and 1992 he worked in the Royal Hashemite Court.

Nasser Judeh worked diligently and passionately during his term in office as Foreign Minister in the pursuit of peace between Palestinians and Israelis, as well as advancing efforts towards a political solution in war-ravaged Syria. He helped promote His Majesty King Abdullah's vision on regional and international issues and explaining to the world the true image of Islam as a religion of dialogue, moderation and openness.

Chelsea Atkins

Chelsea is executive assistant to the founder and executive chair, David Rigg. She is responsible for diary management and international travel arrangements, as well as administrative tasks. Chelsea is also the office manager for our London office and assists with operational matters for the group. 

Chelsea is a highly organised and motivated member of the team. 

Prior to joining Project Associates, Chelsea worked as an office manager at London’s leading estate agency. She holds a level 2 qualification in British Sign Language.

Katy Barney

Katy is an account director working on a number of clients across the private client, corporate and government & political practices. Katy has worked on a range of crisis and reputation management projects and has experience with overseas government clients.

Before joining Project Associates, Katy was based in Brussels and worked in communications at the Single Resolution Board, the EU agency responsible for bank resolution across the Banking Union. Previously, she has worked at a polling and research consultancy, and at other EU institutions including the European Parliament.

Katy has an MSc in European Public Policy from University College London and a BA (Hons) in French and Russian from the University of Bristol.

Philip Boyes

Philip Boyes is a senior account director at Project Associates and leads the firm’s operations in Germany and Central Eastern Europe. He has specialist expertise in constructing communications narratives and media strategies for heads of state and government, high-net-worth philanthropists and multi-national corporations, with particular focus on Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

Prior to joining Project Associates, he worked as a speechwriter for Jerzy Buzek, during his presidency of the European Parliament, Thorbjorn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, in addition to four Polish foreign ministers. In 2014, he led the speechwriting team of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and has worked on two Nobel Peace Prize speeches. Philip started his career as a London-based journalist at Reuters in 2007 and has since written articles for the New York Times, Financial Times, Foreign Policy, Politico, Wall Street Journal as well as German, French, Polish and Israeli publications.

Philip holds an MA in War Studies from King’s College and a BSc in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics. He is fluent in English, Polish and German.

Emily Casey-Haworth

Emily is a senior consultant who works across the government & political, corporate and private practice areas. She has worked with a range of domestic and international clients, developing and executing multifaceted communications strategies. Emily specialises in advising clients on navigating complex political environments and government affairs. She has experience in strategy in campaign work, as well as crisis handling and reputation building.

Before joining Project Associates, Emily worked in the House of Commons as a researcher and adviser to front bench and back bench Members of Parliament.

Emily holds a BA (Hons) in Politics from Durham University.

Lucie Cauty

Lucie is the Office Manager for our European & US offices. Based in our Brussels office Lucie is also responsible for assisting the global client services team with their administrative requirements. She is a highly organised and efficient member of the team. 

Lucie is bilingual in French and English holds a BA (Hons) in English Language Literature and History of English Civilisations from the University of Provence. Lucie also studied English and French translation at the University of Liverpool.

Celine Cheung

Celine is a senior account director with close to a decade’s experience in strategic communications, corporate positioning and stakeholder campaigns. She recently completed a nine-month secondment as the regional Head of Corporate Communications for a major energy sector client.

Celine has a broad range of experience across industries and corporate mandates. She advises clients on purpose-driven communications strategies, encompassing government affairs, creative brand building, CSR, thought-leadership and internal change. She is a specialist in crisis handling and crisis preparedness. Her previous experience includes on-the-ground strategy and campaign work on national elections in South-East Asia and the Caribbean. 

Celine has a BA in Classics from Bristol University and is bilingual in English and Cantonese.

Channette Ddembe

Channette is a finance manager at Project Associates. She is a highly motivated and results orientated individual who delivers core finance services as part of a commercially focused business support function.

Prior to joining Project Associates, Channette worked as an assistant accountant for a business members’ club where she assisted the finance director with the day to day finance functions. She started her finance career in 2016 as an accounts payable specialist for a charity, where she executed efficient internal process changes.     

Channette has a BSc in Accounting and Finance from Brunel University. She is a Part-Qualified Accountant currently studying for her full ACCA membership, to become a Chartered Certified Accountant

Isaac Freeth

Isaac is an account consultant based at Project Associates' London office. 

Isaac is experienced in providing strategic advice around corporate positioning and developing both internal and external multimedia campaigns for multinational corporations. He has also worked closely with a wide range of corporations and private individuals in developing third-party engagement strategies, as well as supporting in media outreach, crisis support, and purpose-driven communications. 
 
Prior to joining Project Associates, Isaac held a range of research positions at NGOs in the UK and USA. He has also held a number of media roles including experience at a television production company, a communications consultancy, and a newspaper in Washington DC.  

Isaac has a BA in History, and an MA in Philosophy from University College London.

Abigail Green

Abigail is executive assistant to the CEO, Rob Worthington. She is responsible for complex diary management and international travel arrangements, as well as administrative tasks. She is conscientious, driven and highly organised. 

Prior to joining Project Associates, Abigail worked as an event planner at a catering company and previously as a team assistant at a global real estate services provider. 

Abigail holds an Executive PA Diploma from Oxford Media & Business School.

Joseph Hesketh

Joseph is a senior account director at Project Associates and works with a range of clients across the government & political, private client and corporate practice areas. Joseph has advised a number of overseas clients, including election campaigns and multi-jurisdictional reputation management strategies for individuals.

Before joining Project Associates, Joseph worked as a consultant advising a national planning group on stakeholder engagement and social media strategy. He also spent time working for two Westminster MPs at both constituency and national level, supporting on communications and parliamentary research.

Joseph has a BA (Hons) in History and Politics from the University of Warwick, and an MSt from the University of Oxford in Global History.

Sarah Kelly

Sarah Kelly is the Finance Assistant at Project Associates. She is a meticulous, driven and highly experienced Accounts Payable Specialist who thrives on implementing cost-effective changes and improving processes in all aspects of her role.

Sarah holds a GNVQ in Business and Finance and held senior Accounts Payable positions for multiple leading media companies prior to joining Project Associates.

Nour Kobayter

Nour is a senior consultant at Project Associates working across the government & political, private client and corporate practice areas. She has worked with a range of domestic and international clients, developing and executing complex communications strategies, undertaking comprehensive media analysis, and advising on political issues.

Before joining Project Associates, Nour was an analyst at a due diligence and corporate investigations firm, leading a wide range of investigations into regulatory and reputational risks across the public and private sectors. She was also a senior analyst for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey at a political risk and strategic consultancy firm, where she advised companies on business and reputational risks when operating across the Middle East and wider EMEA region. She started her career at a London-based think tank, where she assisted in the delivery of educational programmes focused on tackling radicalisation and violent extremism in schools.

Nour holds a BA (Hons) in History and Politics from Queen Mary, University of London, and an MSc in International Relations from The London School of Economics. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Arabic.

George Kyrke-Smith

George is an account director working with clients across our government & political and corporate practice areas. He has extensive experience working on capability building and reputation management projects with overseas sovereign clients, including in the Middle East, West Africa and Eastern Europe. 

Prior to joining Project Associates, George spent six years working in a variety of roles with an international strategic communications firm, including significant time on-the-ground advising ambassadors, diplomats and senior civil servants. Previously, he taught English and UK Politics at Sciences Po Bordeaux. 

George holds an MSc in International Politics from Sciences Po Bordeaux, and a BScEcon (Hons) in French and Politics from Cardiff University.

Jean Le Grix de la Salle

Jean is an associate director at Project Associates with seven years experience in designing, implementing and delivering pan-European communications programmes. Jean leads Project Associates’ operations in France.

In addition to advising a number of heads of state & government in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, Jean was also a press officer in UK central government, where he briefed senior politicians and journalists.

A French national, Jean holds a BA and an MA from the Paris Institute of Political Studies - Sciences Po. He also holds an MSc on Religion in the Contemporary World from the London School of Economics. He is bilingual in English and French.

Harry Lesser

Harry is an account director at Project Associates, helping government and political, corporate and private clients to address complex issues and build and protect their global reputations.

Prior to joining Project Associates, Harry spent several years working for a financial communications consultancy advising international financial institutions on their public relations strategies. Prior to that he worked at a leading Middle East-focused communications and research centre.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Persian, Arabic and Middle Eastern politics and economics from the University of Exeter.

Conor Meade

Conor is a senior consultant at Project Associates and works with a range of clients across the government and political, private client and corporate practice areas. Conor has worked on a number of overseas clients, including election campaigns, strategic positioning programmes for multinational corporations and multi-jurisdictional reputation management strategies for individuals. He has also delivered media outreach programmes and managed crisis responses for a host of domestic clients.

Prior to joining Project Associates, Conor worked in the press and digital marketing teams at a Berlin-based technology start-up.

Conor holds a BA in Modern Languages from University College London and he is fluent in English and French.

Kira Meredith

Kira is an account consultant based in the London office. She works across the corporate, private client and government and political practice areas, and is responsible for media handling and strategic communications on a variety of accounts. She has worked closely with clients to deliver meaningful digital and media content and assisted with client reputation management and crisis communications.  

Kira has experience working in government for the Department of International Trade in the Specialist Ministerial Affairs team and was Assistant Manager at a private mental health practice before joining Project Associates. 

Kira has a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages from University College London and is fluent in Hungarian, Spanish and French.

Dan Morland

Dan is a senior account director and regional manager for Africa at Project Associates, working across the government & political, corporate and private client practices. She specialises in government communications and capacity building and has spent significant time on-the-ground in several African and Middle Eastern countries designing and delivering comprehensive strategic communications programmes, including consulting on media handling, digital communications and stakeholder engagement.

Dan has a decade's worth of experience in strategic communications, having advised a wide range of high-profile clients across the globe, including a number of governments and senior political officials in Africa.

Dan has a BA (Dean’s Honour List) in Political Science from McGill University, and holds an MSc in International Relations and Middle Eastern Foreign Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Julian Morrison

Julian Morrison is the finance director at Project Associates. He is an effective and successful finance professional with an outstanding track record in management, strategic planning, change management and financial control. He combines the dual financial roles of control and support to develop strong financial processes and the financial skills of operational staff.

Julian runs a small but flexible finance team and is actively involved in the provision of management information and support to the business, maintaining an overview of all client accounts.

Julian is a Chartered Certified Accountant and began his finance career in 2005 with the international healthcare and communications group Huntsworth PLC.  His roles prior to joining Project Associates included Financial Controller at PHD Media and Financial Controller at Grayling UK with responsibility for financial management of programmes across Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States.

Dhruv Patel

Dhruv is a Finance Executive at Project Associates. He is a highly motivated and proactive team member, who is adept at supporting a wide range of finance functions. 

Prior to joining project associates, Dhruv worked as a Finance Assistant at an asset management firm where he assisted the management accounting team. He started his finance career in 2018 as an accounts assistant for a property development company, implementing effective internal controls and influencing process changes. 

Dhruv has a BA Hons in Accounting and Finance from University of Hertfordshire. He is currently a part qualified accountant currently studying towards a full ACCA membership to become a Chartered Certified Accountant.

Michael Rose

Michael is a senior account director who works across all three practice areas, advising clients on UK and international media relations, profile raising and political engagement. He specialises in the development of third-party stakeholder engagement programmes, helping deliver and coordinate a comprehensive programme of outreach for clients based in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and CIS. Michael also helps lead on a number of Project Associates’ marketing and business development projects, particularly in London.

Prior to joining Project Associates, Michael worked for a leading trade body, representing some of the UK’s largest companies in the business services industry, communicating industry-wide interests to key government bodies, including ministries, arms-length bodies and regulators. He began his career working for a number of MPs in both the Westminster and Ottawa Parliaments, including a former member of the Canadian Shadow Cabinet, before joining a leading public affairs consultancy.

Michael holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and Parliamentary Studies from the University of Leeds.

Frederick Thiede-Merlo

Frederick is an account consultant at Project Associates working on a number of projects across the private client, corporate and government & political practices. Among other areas, he provides expertise on Germany and on defence matters.

Before joining Project Associates, Frederick organised some of the leading international defence and security conferences at Clarion, following a stint analysing international narcotics policy at the think tank LSE IDEAS. He has also worked at the German Parliament, the Irish Embassy in Berlin, a communications consultancy in London and an international political advisory in Berlin.

Frederick has a BA (Hons) in History from King’s College London and an MSc in International Development from the University of Bristol.

Pietro Vimont

Pietro is an account director at Project Associates and works with a range of corporate, private client and government & political clients to deliver tailored communications strategies. Pietro has experience working with individuals, companies, and institutions to develop creative campaigns, and advise on complex communications and political issues.

Before joining Project Associates, Pietro was a trainee solicitor at Cleary Gottlieb Hamilton & Steen, practising EU law and antitrust. He subsequently co-founded a non-profit organisation coordinating civic engagement campaigns across the EU. He also worked on the European Parliament’s 2019 EU elections campaign, as part of the team behind the landmark “thistimeimvoting” mobilisation effort.

Pietro has a BSc (Hons) in Social Policy from the University of Bristol and holds a Graduate Diploma in Law from London’s University of Law. Pietro is fluent in English, French, and Italian, and speaks conversational Spanish.

Eugenie Voulton

Eugenie is a Senior Consultant based in our Paris office. Eugenie works on the Group’s MENA and Africa projects, with a focus on political and media engagement. Previously she lived and worked in Dubai, advising GCC governments and corporate clients on a range of complex communications issues.

Eugenie is a Franco-British dual national and she holds a BA (Hons) from Durham University, in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies.

Sheila Arora

Sheila Arora is an Associate at Project Associates.  She is a communications and events-management professional with international experience in a variety of industries, from luxury and the Arts, to financial and not-for-profit.  Having worked both in-house and co/founded agencies in Hong Kong, Sydney, London, Rome, Budapest and New York, Sheila is a natural networker with a reputation for innovative, ‘out of the box’ thinking.

Sheila has co-founded the ambitious Belgium Week in Hong Kong and recently embarked on a new venture, SKAL, to create alternative platforms and partnerships to present art and design. She is Vice-Chair of the Belgium-Hong Kong Society, Director of Art Matters and Co-Founder of SKAL (Art and Design agency).

Sheila holds a BA in Art History from the University of East Anglia, a post-graduate CAM certificate (Communications, Advertising, Marketing) and recently qualified from the Art and Business semester program at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

Daniel Dalton

Daniel Dalton has spent over 15 years in the European Parliament and served as an MEP between 2015-2019. During this time, he authored several significant new European laws, including those covering type approvals of cars, online consumer rights, criminal record information and online terrorist content. He was also the Chief Whip of the British Conservative MEP delegation during this time. Before becoming an MEP he worked in the European Parliament, advising a pan European group of MEPs on Agriculture and International Trade. 

Prior to entering politics, Daniel was a professional cricketer, and played for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. He was also a cricket coach. In addition to this, Daniel is a published playwright, and has written several plays which have been performed in schools around the world. He also currently runs the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium.

James Dunseath

James Dunseath is an associate and specialises in PR and communications at Project Associates. He has over twenty years’ experience in international Capital Markets covering equities, derivatives, exchange technology and data services and regulation.

Before joining Project Associates James held a number of senior financial communications positions including at London futures and options market, LIFFE, the amalgamation of Continental European exchanges, Euronext, the New York Stock Exchange and most recently at the Intercontinental Exchange.

Erhan Erçin

Erhan Erçin is an Associate and the President of Levant Global. He is a former Special Advisor on Diplomacy and EU Affairs on the UN-sponsored Cyprus settlement talks. Previously, he served as the Chief Diplomatic Advisor to the Turkish Cypriot President and as an Undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his twenty-year career in the public sector, he engaged with heads of state, senior diplomats and leading think-tankers in Brussels, Ankara, Washington DC, New York, London, Strasbourg, Geneva, Berlin and Tel Aviv. 

Erhan participated in the Annan Plan negotiations in Cyprus in the early 2000s. During that time, he was appointed to run the EU Coordination Center within the Prime Minister’s Office, where he was responsible for coordinating the implementation of the EU's financial assistance and the harmonisation of legal and administrative structures with the EU acquis.

He started his career in 2000 at the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), a leading Turkish think tank, where he focused on EU enlargement and Turkey. In 2008, he received his PhD degree in EU politics at Marmara University’s Institute of European Union Studies.

Ambassador Michael Gerdts

Ambassador Michael H. Gerdts is an Associate at Project Associates. Previously, he was the German Ambassador to Kenya (1995 - 1999), to Poland (2007 - 2010), and twice to Italy (2004 - 2007; 2010 - 2012). During the period of German Unification and the " 2+4 Talks " he worked as the Private Secretary to Foreign Minister H.D. Genscher (1988 - 1992), followed by three years as the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel (1992 - 1995).

Michael Gerdts started his diplomatic career in the field of arms control and disarmament as a member of the German Delegation to the United Nations, followed by assignments in the policy planning staff, as Deputy Head of the United Nations Department, and as Director General of the Department for Communication of the Ministry. Since 2013 he has been the German President of the German-Italian Foundation Villa Vigoni at Lago di Como, Italy, which focuses on European affairs and German-Italian relations. He also works closely with the BMW/Herbert Quandt Foundation in Berlin.

Michael Gerdts studied Economics and Political Science at Köln University and at Pennsylvania State University, USA.

Jonathan Goff

Jonny is an Associate at Project Associates. He delivers creative communication strategies for a range of clients and advises on matters relating to the EU. 

Jonny previously worked in the European Parliament for a senior MEP and the Chairman of a pan-European political group. Prior to this, Jonny advised FTSE 100 companies on public affairs strategy and represented them to the European institutions and, more recently, he worked for an international campaign consultancy managing an EU-wide grassroots campaign. 

Jonny has a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of the West of England.

Najib Gouiaa

Najib Gouiaa is the General Manager of MediaCity Mauritius, an integrated hub for the multimedia and creative industries looking to connect with African markets. He has over 25 years’ experience in the media industry, having been a journalist, a TV production executive, and a consultant for large media organisations.  

Prior to launching MediaCity Mauritius, Najib was the CEO of TIME TV, a French media production company which made documentaries for international broadcasters such as France TV, Al Jazeera, and TV5 Monde. He was also a Director of Al Qarra TV, a multilingual network, specialising in African news. Najib is an experienced consultant, having helped international clients navigate the media environment of the Middle East and Africa.

George Hall

George Hall is an associate and specialises in advising on public policy and governmental affairs, with a focus on the EU and its relationships with global trading partners. He has been involved in EU affairs since 1973 and has carved out a career both in the public and private sector as a UK diplomat and as senior executive in a major UK company. This high level of experience and expertise means George delivers an unprecedented level of well rounded strategic advice.

George has, at various times, represented the IT industry in European and global forums, such as chairing the BusinessEurope Information Society Steering Committee in Brussels. He was a founding board member of EICTA (now known as DigitalEurope), and was EU issue manager on eCommerce in the Trans-Atlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) as well as a member of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee of the OECD. He is also on the executive committee of the Broadband Stakeholder Group, a public/private partnership that advises the UK Government on broadband policy.

Anthony Harris

Anthony’s career with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which focussed largely on the Arab World, culminated in his appointment as British Ambassador to the UAE in 1994. Previous postings included Beirut, Jedda, Khartoum, Abu Dhabi, Geneva where he was a delegate to UNCTAD, Riyadh, and Cairo, where he was Charge D'Affaires during the First Gulf War. In the 1980's he worked for the Defence Export Services Organisation in the Ministry of Defence, where he was responsible for defence relations with the GCC States, and helped to negotiate the Al-Yamamah Air Defence deal with the Saudi Government. He was seconded to the Cabinet Office in 1990, to review security in British Missions overseas, and then for three years he was responsible for the British Government’s relations with the foreign press worldwide, and the management of the BBC Overseas Service.   

Before moving to Dubai in 2000, he was for two years a Director of Corporate Finance with Robert Fleming in the City of London. Currently he runs the Tysers' Office, a Lloyd's-based reinsurance brokerage, in the DIFC. He helped set up the Brunswick Office in the DIFC, and has since worked for a number of other financial PR, risk management and strategic consulting firms. 

Anthony speaks Arabic, French and some Italian. He was British Commonwealth shooting champion in 1964.

Ambassador Thomas Matussek

Ambassador Thomas Matussek is an Associate at Project Associates. Previously he was German Ambassador to the UK (2002-2006), Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York (2006 -2009) and Ambassador to India (2009-2011). In his 36-year career as a German diplomat he also held the positions of Director General for Political Affairs, Deputy Ambassador in Washington DC and Chief of Staff to foreign ministers Hans-Dietrich Genscher and Klaus Kinkel.  

From 1980 to 1983, Ambassador Matussek served as European Advisor to Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. On retiring from the diplomatic service, he worked for Deutsche Bank between 2011 and 2016, first as Head of Public Affairs and later as Managing Director of Deutsche Bank’s International Forum, the not-for-profit Alfred Herrhausen Society. He is also a Senior Advisor at Flint and sits on various non-profit boards. 

Ambassador Matussek studied law and history at the Universities of Paris and Bonn from 1969 to 1972, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1973.

Ambassador Cameron Munter

Cameron Munter is a diplomat, academic, and executive who lives in New York. He was U.S. ambassador to Pakistan from 2010 to 2012, and to Serbia 2007 to 2009. He served twice in Iraq (in Mosul and in Baghdad).

In the course of three decades as a career diplomat, he was also NSC Director in the Clinton and Bush White Houses, and served overseas in Warsaw, Prague, and Bonn. After retirement from the diplomatic service, he taught at Columbia Law School and Pomona College. He then became President and CEO of the EastWest Institute in New York, and there led extensive global track-two mediation efforts. He stepped down from that post in 2019 and now teaches and consults internationally.

Cameron is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Diplomacy and serves on corporate and non-profit boards around the world. He is also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council in Washington.

The Rt. Hon. Sir Richard Ottaway

The Rt Hon. Sir Richard Ottaway is an associate at Project Associates. He was a Member of Parliament for 27 years, standing down in 2015. Sir Richard was Chairman of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Select Committee from 2010 - 2015 and a member of the Intelligence and Security Committee from 2005 - 2010. Sir Richard continues to play a part in foreign policy and international development issues with a special interest in Middle East Affairs.

Sir Richard is an international lawyer by profession, and qualified as a solicitor in 1977 specialising in maritime and commercial law. He was a partner of William A. Crump & Son in London from 1981-87, and was a director of Coastal States Petroleum (UK) Ltd from 1988-95.

Ambassador Jean de Ruyt

Ambassador Jean De Ruyt is an associate at Project Associates. Previously, he was the Permanent Representative of Belgium to the European Union. He was then appointed to advise the European Union's High Representative & Vice-President Baroness Ashton on specific foreign policy issues. Prior to that, he was Ambassador to Italy and the FAO from 2004-2007. From 2001 until 2004 he was the Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations in New York; including leading the EU response to the events of 9/11.

During the 1990s, he was instrumental in shaping the new post-Cold War European Security Architecture. First as senior official to the OSCE and Ambassador to the Western European Union (WEU), then as Ambassador to Poland (1994–1996), Permanent Representative to the NATO Council (1996–1997) and Belgian Member of the Political Committee of the European Union (1997–2001).

He is an Associate Fellow of the Egmont Institute and is a Member of the Royal Academy of Belgium.  His latest book – Leadership in the European Union was published in 2015, and he has conducted seminars on European issues for the European Studies Institute of Louvain University and the College of Europe.

Ambassador De Ruyt has a doctorate from Louvain University Law School and studied at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Ambassador Stefano Stefanini

Ambassador Stefano Stefanini is Director of Project Associates’ Brussels Office. Prior to this he was Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, Italian Permanent Representative at NATO and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Washington. He also served in Perth, Western Australia; New York (United Nations) and Moscow.

Ambassador Stefanini has substantial expertise in Transatlantic affairs, international security, defence capabilities and industry, as well as in Western and European relations with Russia and in EU affairs. As Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Italy, from 2010 to 2013, Ambassador Stefanini provided analysis on international, European and security affairs and organised President Napolitano’s international agenda, including Italy’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 2011 and several official visits abroad, including Beijing, Jerusalem, Washington, New York and all major European capitals.

Ambassador Stefanini also sits on the Board of Directors of the European Leadership Network in London, the Board of Directors of the Center for American Studies in Rome, and is non-resident Senior Fellow of the Brent Scowcroft Center for International Security, Atlantic Council, Washington. He was also Vice Chairman of OTO Melara, a Finmeccanica defence Company, from 2012-2014.

Ambassador Stefanini has a law degree from the University of Pisa magna cum laude and master’s degree from the Institute for International Political Studies in Milan. He was a Lieutenant in the Alpine corps of the Italian army, and a recipient of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Ambassador Stefanini has honours from several foreign governments, including France, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Morocco and South Korea.

General Dominique Trinquand

General Dominique Trinquand is an Associate at Project Associates and as a defence and strategy expert, is a much sought-after commentator and analyst in the media. During his military career, General Trinquand held several commanding positions in the French army and at international organisations. He has extensive experience of global strategic issues and is one of a few officers to have graduated from military training colleges in France and the U.K.  

He took part in operations across the world, most notably in Lebanon (1991-92) and ex-Yugoslavia (1993-95), where he advised the leadership of the UN forces in the field. More recently, in Paris and New York, where General Trinquand was the Head of France’s military mission to the UN (2006-08), he led the negotiations surrounding the deployment of French troops in Lebanon and Africa.  

In 2010, he joined Group Marck, where he is Director of External Relations. He is responsible for managing the group’s relationships with French officials and international governments. In 2013 he also created a consortium which specialises in providing equipment to troops engaged in peacekeeping operations.
